Swim: Dutchman takes shot at European organisers

Thorpe, who is tapering after the world championships, said the Goodwill Games was
awesome but had the potential to work better.

"From the crowd's point of view it was a little bit disappointing tonight," the 18-year-old said.

"I think it has the potential to work even better than it has here."

Thorpe rated the meet which finishes on Monday with the gold medal round as a success,
but said it was more about racing than times.

"All of us are racing with an equal amount of pride that we do in any other competition
and think that's what shines through," he said.

Meanwhile, he was unlikely to break his world records, declaring tonight he could not
swim any faster at the moment.

"I don't think I am capable of going any faster than I am here," he said.

"I have been in a taper for a long time now here and I'm really enjoying myself."
