NEW YORK -- The Bronx district attorney should seek the death penalty in the murder of Officer Kevin Gillespie, or let another prosecutor handle the case, Mayor Rudolph Giuliani said Friday.

If the district attorney -- Robert Johnson, an opponent of capital punishment -- refuses to step aside, then the governor and the attorney general should step in, Giuliani said.
