Qld: Veteran in hospital after Grandfather Clock mishap
One of Australia's last surviving World War One veterans, TED SMOUT, is recoveringin hospital after a Grandfather Clock fell on him.
Mr SMOUT -- who turns 105 on Sunday -- served with the army medical corps in Franceand Belgium in the Great War.
Last week he received cuts and bruises when the 1.8-metre clock fell on him at his Brisbane home.
A Greenslopes Private Hospital spokeswoman says Mr SMOUT is in a stable condition.
Mr SMOUT says he was winding the clock just before Christmas when it fell forward andnailed him to the floor for about 20 minutes.
