Qld: Explosives cause traffic stoppage

BRISBANE, Aug 27 AAP - Police closed an intersection ten kilometres from the city for
about four hours this afternoon after finding an explosive device on a traffic island.

The device was found at the intersection of Old Cleveland Road and Creek Road, Carindale,
shortly before 2.30pm (AEST), prompting police to close the road in both directions.

Traffic remained blocked until 6.15pm (AEST) when the unidentified device was rendered inactive.

Both roads have been reopened except for one lane either side of the traffic island.

Police are investigating the incident.
